When people visit a new hairdresser, there’s often an expectation that everything will be perfect from the very first appointment. While this is always a hair stylists goal, I’ve learnt over many years in the industry that the very best hair doesn’t come from one appointment alone, it comes from feedback.
“The best hairstyles aren’t created by a hairdresser alone…they’re shaped through collaboration, trust and conversation”
Conversation & Feedback
Every person’s hair is unique. It has its own texture, density, movement and personality. Then there’s you… how you like to wear it, how much time you spend styling it, the products you use at home, and even the little things you don’t realise you do every day. All of these details influence the end result. All of this is feedback. It all adds to the picture. Communication and the journey is a huge part to finding ‘your hairdresser’.
I know a lot of kick arse hairdressers. Sometimes they get a new client and nail the look in 5 hours, sometimes the look develops over three appointments. Media has a way of making us think everything is easy, effortless, instantaneous. But ask yourself is that super simple diet shed the weight yet? Did that course you buy get you to your first 10k month yet? Are you doing handstands in 2 months just like that yoga influencer said you would? Instant sells! Immediate sells! No waiting sells! No one wants to be patient, we want what we want now, as simply and as easily as possible. Marketers know this most of all. Always ask yourself… Is money being made from this “promise”.
During your first visit, I’ll listen carefully to what you love, what you don’t, and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll share honest advice about what’s possible and create a look that suits both your hair and your lifestyle. But it’s often what happens after you leave the salon that teaches us the most…..How did your hair feel after washing it yourself? Was it easy to style? Did you wish there was a little more movement around your face, or perhaps a softer fringe? Did your colour fade exactly how you expected, or would you like it brighter next time? That feedback isn’t a sign that something went wrong. It’s how truly personalised hair is created.
Honing your style and perfecting the look
Over time, I get to know not just your hair, but you. I learn how your hair naturally behaves, how quickly it grows, how it responds to colour, and what makes you feel most confident. With each appointment, we fine-tune the details until your hair feels effortlessly right. Some of my favourite transformations haven’t happened in a single afternoon. They’ve evolved over several appointments through trust, honest conversations and small refinements that make a big difference. For me, hairdressing has never been about following the latest trend or creating the same look for everyone. It’s about building a relationship where you feel listened to, understood and confident that your hair is moving in the right direction. Beautiful hair isn’t just about technical skill…it’s about collaboration. So if you’re looking for a hairdresser who takes the time to understand your hair, your lifestyle and what makes you feel like the best version of yourself, I’d love to meet you. Because the best hairstyles aren’t simply created….They’re discovered together.
